Generosity by Lifeway

 

Generosity by LifeWay is an online giving solution designed to nurture generous hearts using all six channels of digital giving available to today's giver (Online, Text, App, Crowdfunding, Noncash, and Events) while leveraging and updating your MP data!

Initial Setup and Requirements

An account with Generosity by LifeWay must be established first.

Integration Configuration

Pro tip: Best Practice is to create a NEW Company Contact using the Add/Edit Company tool, and then create a NEW User for each Integration. Set up your Giving Provider API Client before configuring this integration. Be sure to grant the new API User Administrative rights!

  1. Go to Administration > API Clients
  2. Click NEW
  3. Enter Generosity for Display Name and Client ID
  4. Enter a Client Secret. This is the 'password' used by Generosity by LifeWay to access your MinistryPlatform database. We highly recommend using a password generator to have your Client Secret be very unique and secure.
  5. Select the appropriate Client User
    • Note that whatever Client User you choose/create, they must have a Security Role with Administrator rights.
  6. Authentication Flow: Authorization Code, Implicit, Hybrid, Client Credentials, or Resource Owner
  7. All other settings can remain the same
  8. Click SAVE

Cost

There is no charge from Think Ministry for configuring the integration.

Fees from Generosity by LifeWay will be assessed as per each church's individual contract agreement.

Giving via Generosity

Church Members make a gift through a donation page embedded on their website, the mobile app, and text giving.

Generosity Backoffice 

Gifts are listed under the Donations Tab in the Digital Giving Platform Back Office.

Integration into MP

Donations automatically transfer into MP. However, you will need to assign the donors using the Assign Donor Tool. 

  1. Stewardship - Donations 
  2. Change the view to “0. Reassign Donor” to find unassigned donors
  3. Run the Assign Donor Tool

Note: If the Designated Fund Name in Generosity does not match a Statement Header in MP, the iDonate Fund name will be listed in the Notes section of the Donation Distribution.
