Cancelling an Event

Sometimes things change, and your carefully planned event needs to be canceled. Or maybe an errant/duplicate Event ends up on your calendar and needs to be canceled. Never fear; you can cancel events by editing a few fields!

To cancel an Event:
  1. On the Events page, search for and open the desired Event.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Change the Cancelled field to Yes.
  4. If the Event has active registration, change the Registration Active field to No.
  5. Update the Description and/or Meeting Instructions as desired.
  6. Click Save.
Once the above is complete, a trigger will cause the following automatically:
  •  "***Cancelled***" is appended to the beginning of the Event Title.
  • The Event's Room Reservations are marked as Cancelled, and **Cancelled** is added to the Notes.
  • The Event's Equipment Reservations are marked as Cancelled, and **Cancelled** is added to the Notes.
  • The Event's Services Reservations are marked as Cancelled, and **Cancelled** is added to the Notes.
  • If applicable, the Event is removed from Check-In Suite.

Did your event require payment? You'll need to make a decision about how your church would like to handle those payments. Some registrants may request a refund of the payment, where as others may request it be changed into a donation.

See Managing Registrations if you need to cancel an Event Participant rather than canceling the entire event.

Note: If you un-cancel an event (stranger things have happened...), ***Cancelled*** will be removed from the Event Title and any Reservations, showing the original text. Allow a few minutes before making further changes to the event, as the undo will overwrite new changes to the title.
