Creating a MinistryPlatform Sandbox

Think Ministry's Support coverage does not include supporting sandbox systems. If you email Support regarding an issue with your sandbox, we are happy to recommend the services of one of our highly regarded vendors.

Use this guide to create a copy of your MinistryPlatform V2 installation for use as a Sandbox. Sandboxes are not available for shared hosted customers. You can use the sandbox for training, software development, testing or idea proving…really anything you want. The creation of a Sandbox takes between 30-90 minutes based on your comfort with the concepts and the speed of the systems involved. If you want to update your Sandbox to the most recent version of the Platform, you should follow the instructions provided again, and recopy the database and application files all over again.

This is a fairly technical process. The professional services team at ThinkMinistry can create or update your Sandbox environment. This work must be scheduled and is charged on a per hour basis. The minimum charge for creating a Sandbox is 2 hours and software updates or database updates can be done with a 1 hour minimum. Step 1 — Backup Production Database

This step includes Core Tools, Portal, and Check-In Suite.

The following should not be used in a sandbox:

  • Reports
  • CloudTools
  • BatchManager
  • MobileTools
  • Checkin2 (Legacy)
  • ClassroomManager (Legacy)
