Initial Setup

Our staff will work with SPoCs to ensure the proper initial setup of your church's Portal.

Setup Process

  1. Configure the Portal:
    • The Portal has a skin modeled after your church website, and
    • Church-specific Portal items such as email templates, resources and the Contribution Statement template are accurate via the Portal Admin page.
  2. Update the Portal Configuration Settings. SPoCs should update the following settings before any Portal page is made public. Aside from these initial settings, additional Portal Configuration Settings can be modified as desired.
    • ContentNotFoundMessage: the text someone sees if they look for a page that doesn't exist.
    • DefaultRedirectPage: the page someone sees when they log in (the default setting is My User Account).
    • NewUserCanCreateContact: determines whether users who attempt to create new user accounts are able to do so if the information provided in the new account form does not match an existing Contact record.
      • NewUserContactNotFoundMessage: if you set NewUserCanCreateContact to False, this setting allows you to provide a message letting people know next steps related to creating a user account. We recommend providing church contact information so they can get assistance in creating a user account.
    • DefaultContactID: the Default Contact ID in your database.
    • DefaultParticipantID: the default Participant ID used when creating a new Participant record.
    • DefaultDonorID: the Donor ID a record is given if a new record is created via the Portal.
    • DefaultContactStatusID: the Contact Status ID a record is given if a new record is created via the Portal.
    • DefaultParticipantTypeID: the Participant Type ID a record is given if a new record is created via the Portal.
    • DefaultHouseholdSourceID: the Household Source ID a record is given if a new record is created via the Portal.
    • DefaultStatementFrequency: the default Statement Frequency ID a record is given if a new record is created via the Portal.
    • DefaultStatementType: the default Statement Type ID a record is given if a new record is created via the Portal.
    • DefaultStatementMethod: the default Statement Method ID a record is given if a new record is created via the Portal.
    • PathtoPortal: The definitive path to your portal. Must include the trailing slash. Many routines and processes will use this information to send direct links to the portal to users.
