Deleting Future Instances of an ARB Subscription

In a rare case, you may need to manually delete a Subscription in MinistryPlatform. This would most commonly happen if the Subscription had been deleted manually in Authorize.NET rather than by the donor using the My Giving page of the Portal.

It is always best to cancel a recurring gift from the My Giving page of the portal. However, you can safely delete all future instances of a recurring donation series in the Platform. Use the Alter or Delete Subscription report on the Donations page to accomplish this. Follow these steps:

  1. Stewardship > Donations
  2. Report > Alter or Delete Subscription
  3. Input the Subscription code
  4. Click View Report
  5. Review the report then click the "Delete Unbatched Donations in this subscription." 
Changing an ARB Subscription Amount

While not recommended, you may decide to edit the amount of an ARB Subscription in Authorize.NET directly. Should this happen, the future, un-batched Donation records with that Subscription Code should be edited in the Platform. While this can be done manually, it is a two-step process:

  1. Edit the amount of one Donation in the series; the Platform asks if you wish to edit future Donations in the series.
  2. Edit the Distribution Amount for all future Donations in the subscription. This second step can be done most efficiently with the Assign Tool.
This two-step process is inefficient and the system administrator may not want to grant the user access to the Assign tool. For these reasons, an Actionable Report called "Alter or Delete Subscriptions" exists on the Donations page that will allow a user to edit the amount of the Donation and Distributions in a subscription in a single, safe step.
