Add Events to Google Calendar

Once you obtain your ICS Event Calendar Feed URL, you can add events from MinistryPlatform to your Google Calendar. Then, to go one step further, you can add the Google Calendar widget on your website. This way, anyone can see all your church's events in one convenient and familiar place!

  • Tip: Be mindful of who you allow to view certain event information.
  • Note: Your MinistryPlatform ICS Event Calendar Feed immediately updates with any additions and changes you make. However, Google only refreshes the feed once a day, so it may take up to 24 hours for your latest event information to appear on the Google Calendar.
  • Pro Tip: Need event changes to show up right away? Consider using the native MinistryPlatform Event Widgets!

Add Your Calendar to Google

  1. Copy the feed URL you want to use based on the information provided in ICS Event Calendar Feed URL.
  2. Log in to your church's Google Calendar account.
  3. Open your calendar Settings.
  4. Click "Add calendar", and select "From URL".
  5. Paste your feed URL into the text box.
  6. Select "Make the calendar publicly accessible" if you want to allow others to view events. Note: This is the only way to let people view events if they don't have access to Google Calendar. See more about share settings in this Google Calendar Help article.
  7. Click "Add calendar".

The calendar is added to the account. You can set the name of the calendar to help others understand what kind of events they're viewing.

If the people who need to see this calendar all have access to your church's Google Calendar, you can stop here. Otherwise, to allow congregants and those outside of the Google account to view events, you can add the calendar to your website.

Add Google Calendar to Your Website

  1. Log in to your church's Google Calendar account.
  2. Open your calendar Settings.
  3. In the menu on the left, scroll down to "Settings for my calendars", and click the calendar you set up.
  4. Under the "Integrate calendar" section, copy either the "Public URL to this calendar" or the "Embed code". For more information, see this Google Calendar Help article.
  5. Consult your website vendor's documentation on how to add a new page. Use the URL or code from the previous step to add the calendar.
