Step Escalation

Setup Escalation

To configure a Process Step to escalate to another Step when it has not been completed by the deadline, make sure to set the following Process Step fields:

  • Escalation Only - This step is skipped and invoked only by another step that has exceeded the task deadline.
  • Escalate to Step – If the deadline for a task created by this step is passed, select the step to which it should escalate.
  • Task Deadline – The deadline in hours by which this task must be completed. The start of the task should be when it is created and the end date should be computed based upon this value.
Escalation Workflow
  1. Step A is a task with a task deadline.
  2. Step A has a Escalate to Step set of Step A2.
  3. When the Step A task has been completed/approved:
    1. Step A2 is skipped.
    2. Step B (if applicable) will be invoked by the Process.
  4. If the task has not been completed/approved by the time the deadline for Step A arrives:
    1. Step A will be marked complete.
    2. Step A2 will be initiated by the Process.
    3. Step A2 must be completed/approved before Step B (if applicable) will be invoked by the Process.

Note: A Process might contain multiple escalation Steps.
